This little bit of Buntingford became a little bit of America
just for a day, it was sweet and raw like a large slice of
Mom's Apple pie liberally laced with with a hefty slug of
the pool room favourite "Jack Daniels....."

1

Plymouth Roadrunner
Thanks to the owner for supplying a veritable epistle on this car. It reads like an operators manual but is pure music to the enthusiast. I believe it originated in Arizona.
The 383 Roadrunner engine supplies 335HP and 425ft/lbs of torque. Plymouth paid $50.000 to Warner Bros. and gained permission to use the Road Runner cartoon character as a badge for the car.
Costing $3000 in 1968, Plymouth sold 45,000 cars, over 42,000 more than they expected!

2

Peter Thompson's latest Pontiac.
As you can see from the picture, Peter's latest project is well under way as he returns to the track after a number of years away. The Pontiac currently has an 8.2litre big block Chevrolet engine but Peter is looking to go bigger! If I remember correctly his last race car cost over £35,000 to prepare.
Incidentally, Peter is looking for a new crew to help him race, so if you interested in getting your
hands dirty Peter will want to talk to you.

Ford Mustang
Just arrived from California! Built in 1966 this car was completely restored in the US "from the bottom up!" As you can see it is for sale, the owner told us " I have never drivena car like it....It is unbelievably fast but thankfully has extremely efficient brakes"
The Mustang has a series "C" 289 cubic inch V8 engine and has a few minor repairs waiting to be done, the parts for which are trunk. price tag £12,000
Thanks to local man Chris Wilson for writing all this information up for me and posting it through my letter box!

Plymouth PT105 pick up from 1940.
Another of Chris Wilson's vehicles, this pick up originates from Arizona. It has also been rebuilt but with modern up to date equipment. It has a 360 cubic inch Chevrolet V8 engine, automatic transmission and power steering. Also fitted is a completely up to date hidden stereo system with remote control.
Them old Arizona farmers would have a field day with that! A snip at £14,750

Chevrolet pick up. (Red)
This 1954 Chevy has a straight 6 engine and is true to the
original design. Even down to the wheels.
The truck has only been in the country for about a year and
originates from Dallas.
The owner also has a Harley and was torn as to which one was
going to accompany him to the show today........Maybe the
threat of rain...

Chevrolet pick up (Green)
Dating from 1946 this Chevy has only ever had one owner from new, a farmer from Tuscan, Arizona.
It has only 48,000 miles on the clock (genuine) and has its original vacuum windscreen wipers intact and working.
This is another of Chris Wilson's trucks but this one  is completely standard. Chris is selling this one for £7,500 as it needs "modernising"

Oldsmobile Dynamic 88
Built in 1958 this wonderful example of "larger then life America"
The car arrived in England from Oregon complete with its original documentation in 2000.  The huge rear bumper is a genuine manufacturers addition, called the dinner table by the owner!
The car came fully packaged up with a story from its former life. It was bought by an elderly couple who only used it to go a few miles visiting family. The man died soon after the purchase but his wife carried on driving it until it became too much for her. The story goes that one day she caught the side trim on a fence and the local garage fixed it with a self tapping screw. The repair remains the same to this day. 38,000 genuine mileage !!

Ford Mercury
Technically a Mustang we were told, this drag racing Ford has a 302ci 5 litre engine. The little chap on the bonnet was oh so proud of his Dad's car.

This wagon was here last year, taking a day off from running moonshine.
It's called "Pumpshot" but has no further identify
marks. You wouldn't mistake it though would you...

13

McLaughlin Buick Special
We first saw this black beauty in 2006 and it was with us for last years show. It is a delight to see it here again this year.Built in Canada in 1938 making it right hand drive. It has 4064 cc engine returning a just 12 mpg. A star if the silver screen, the car was bought in 2003 from Eddie Phillips (from the band "The Creation") If I remember correctly the framed photograph is a picture of this wonderful machine with a woman called Jennifer Annistone....or something like that.

Please contact me here if you find one (or more) of the many inaccuracies there are bound to be on these pages. I will endeavour to correct them.
I would also be interested in any further information on any of the machines shown on these pages. Keeps me out of trouble.
